Happy New Year (2013) to all!

Posted By: on January 1, 2013 at 1:07 pm

Wow…..can they spare it?  Arizona is where I live…and I heard on the Telly that Minimum wage in this State has been given a rise.  Take a look at this:

……”And while this year’s 15-cent minimum-wage increase will mean a lot to struggling workers, the truth is that Arizona’s minimum wage remains well below the level needed to ensure that full-time work provides a path out of poverty. Contrary to myth, more than 78 percent of workers benefiting from Arizona’s minimum wage increase on Jan. 1 are adults over the age of 20. Eighty-five percent of these workers are putting in more than 20 hours per week, and 48 percent have at least some college education.

When large numbers of skilled adult workers find themselves relying on the minimum wage to make ends meet, then a national response is required in order to preserve the American Dream of upward economic mobility.

Congress has only acted three times in the last 30 years to raise the federal minimum wage. It’s time for a new level of leadership. It’s time for Congress to learn from Arizona’s example by raising and indexing the minimum wage.”

Excerpts taken from an article written by: Rebekah Friend, executive director of the Arizona AFL-CIO.

As you can see from this article, more income is not going to come from Congress, or anywhere else but from your own efforts.  I would like to think that you’ll want to have your own bargaining power that you can only get from having your own business, and from working for yourself!  Here’s a solution that I’ve found that I’d like to share with you.  You deserve more than minimum wage!!

Improve your WP post ranking

Posted By: on April 3, 2012 at 10:17 am

As  this is a WordPress blog and many of you are looking to do the same,..

One of the first questions we all need to address is how to get the traffic to your blog and your posts. I  have found a simple – and short – YouTube video posted a few years ago that is relevant today.   It will help you start the process of optimizing it for the Google main search engine that we all have to live with.

It will not teach you everything but it is a good starter!  Here it is:

A special story….of how attitude is everything’ told by a disgruntled cab driver

Posted By: on March 31, 2012 at 12:05 pm

THE STORY BEGINS!

One evening I arrived at the address and honked the horn and after waiting a few minutes I walked to the door and  knocked..

‘Just a minute’, answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90’s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940’s movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a  cardboard box filled with photos and glassware..

‘Would you carry my bag out to the car?’ she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.  She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.

She kept thanking me for my kindness. ‘It’s nothing’, I told her.. ‘I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.’

‘Oh, you’re such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, ‘Could you drive through downtown?’

‘It’s not the shortest way,’ I answered quickly..

‘Oh, I don’t mind,’ she said. ‘I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. ‘I don’t have any family left,’ she continued in a soft voice.. ‘The doctor says I don’t have very long.’ I quietly reached over and shut off  the meter.

‘What route would you like me to take?’ I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city.

She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.

We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds.   She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing. As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, ‘I’m tired. Let’s go now’.

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.  ‘How much do I owe you?’ She asked, reaching into her purse.

‘Nothing,’ I said.

‘You have to make a living,’ she answered.

‘There are other passengers,’ I responded.

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.

She held onto me tightly.

‘You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,’ she said  ‘Thank you.’

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life..

I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift?  What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We’re conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments.

But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID,
OR WHAT YOU SAID ~BUT~
THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL!

Affiliate Marketing Pitfalls

Posted By: on March 27, 2012 at 8:45 pm

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning money online.

I personally believe that for many people looking to make extra money online, affiliate marketing is (generally speaking) easy to understand, easy to setup, and it gives the little guy or gal a chance to make $$$ through the Internet. Since most affiliate marketing programs are easy to join, easy to implement and as they pay commissions on a regular basis, more an more people are joining  affiliate marketing programs.

However, like all businesses, there are major pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business. Committing some of the most common mistakes will cost you a large portion of your potential earnings. Obviously, it is better to avoid them up front, day one, rather than being regretful and leaving dollars on the table after the fact.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate.

Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible. In their rush to be part of one, they tend to choose a bandwagon product. This is the kind of product or service that the “Affiliate Network” thinks is “hot”, and they choose the product that is in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them.  I personally have done this in the past and I can tell you from experience that it is not a very wise way to approach the business.

Instead of jumping on the bandwagon, try to choose a product in which you are truly interested in. For any endeavor to succeed, you should take some time to plan and figure out your actions.  The product you choose should be a reflection of your own designed website and personality.

Pick a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that product to determine if it is really in demand. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might be tempted to join many in an effort to maximize the earnings you will be getting. Besides you may think that there is nothing wrong and nothing to lose by being a part of multiple affiliate programs.

True, that is a great way to have multiple sources of income.  However, joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same time will prevent you from concentrating on anyone of them to do it justice.  It’s very VERY easy to lose focus if there are too may.

The result?  The maximum potential of any of your affiliate programs will not be realized and the income generated will not exactly be as grand as you were thinking initially it would or could be.  The best way to get excellent results is by joining just one or two programs that pays a 40% commission at least or better.  Then give it your best efforts by promoting that product or service enthusiastically.  As soon as you see that it is making a reasonable profit consistantly, then maybe you can join another affiliate program.

The best technique is to do it slowly but surely. There is really no need to rush into things, especially with affiliate marketing. With the way things are going, the future is looking real bright and it seems affiliate marketing will be staying with us for the long haul.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.

As an affiliate, your main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service and to find customers. How can you do this without trying the products yourself?  You need to experience the product or service in your everyday life to really know if it is good enough to get your seal of approval,.. otherwise, you will fail to promote and recommend them convincingly. Which means, you will fail to make any customers.

I suggest that you FIRST try the product or service BEFORE you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. Once you have done this, then you are in a great position to make new customers as an affiliate. Your customers will then trust what you have already shared with them.

Many affiliate marketers make these simple mistakes and are paying dearly for their actions. Again, I suggest that in order for you to  not fall into the same situation, try to do everything to avoid the above pitfalls.

Time is the key, and now is the time for you to analyze your marketing strategy and check if you are on the right track.  If done properly, you will be able to maximize your affiliate marketing program of choice, and earn higher profits.

A Simple tool to Expand your Future Earnings

Posted By: on March 22, 2012 at 7:30 pm

As I begin this journey with you, whoever you may be, it has become quite evident to me that in order to do it right, I needed the proper tools.

You cannot talk to the World about what you know and expect to inspire anyone in this internet age, without of course being on the internet.  I personally know very little about it,.. technically speaking, but I’m a great user-facilitator I have alot to offer you.

Here’s my experience in life.  How does one project oneself, how does one communicate properly without a website?  So here you are.  You are on my website hoping to find some inspiration, some way to have a better lifestyle, greater income, and better health.  It is possible to those who believe.  You know what your goals are, and I hope to be able to help you reach some of those goals!

You as an individual will need some of the same tools that I have.  As I said, you need a website…just like I have, and that you’re now looking at.  If you have an offline business, meaning you are working out of your home, ..a small shop or local business, then if this is you then YOU TOO need to have a website if you truly want to improve your business.  If you would like to have a business Online, an internet business, you must have a website.  If you’re a single mom, this applies to you too.

I’m sure that you will agree, that this website thing might be a big elephant, but what do they say…how do you eat an elephant?  The answer is, one bite at a time.  My husband has been with a company called GVO (Global Virtual Opportunities) for over 10 years, and believe it or not, because of this, everything becomes much easier, especially with website creation,.. PLUS you don’t need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to build your own website.  As you can do it yourself!

Can you turn on your computer, write a letter, and save it,.. and can you upload a picture from your camera to the computer?   If your answer to this is YES,.. then YOU know enough to make it happen,.. then you’re on your way!   YOU are capable of making a website.  Right now, I’m using a tool called WordPress.  You may have heard of it.  However, with GVO, you don’t have to know how to install WordPress on a web server.  In fact, I’m not sure what a server is, but thank goodness, my husband does.

With GVO the elephant is cut into plate size portions which you can easily enjoy and digest!  Learning to use any of their tools is a piece of cake.  I am now going to share with you a video that explains everything about the process and how easy it can be.  << CLICK << Even a 10 year old can do this!

Greetings from Mesa, Arizona, USA.

Posted By: on March 21, 2012 at 5:31 pm

This is the first Blog Post,..  I hope that you will enjoy it.

Shelley at Graduation

My Graduation pic

My husband has encouraged me to have a website that he has made, and hopefully I will be able to share with you some interesting and cool ideas that will motivate you to becoming better off financially, and at the same time improving your health and wellbeing.

My four children have all grown up, and I am at the place and time in my life that I can look back and say that I have always tried my best to be positive and look forward to better things.  I was born and grew up in a beautiful area of New Zealand called Takapuwahia.  It is the tribal area of my Maori people, Ko Te iwi O Ngati Toa.’

After leaving my native homeland to attend school in Hawaii in 1972, it was there that I met my husband to be.  Since that time, I/we have lived here in the mainland, or back in New Zealand over different periods of time.  Throughout all this time, I have watched and enjoyed my family growing, learning and living their lives.  I continue to be amazed at how the years go by so quickly, and now am excited about the lives of my 6 growing grandchildren who lives throughout the USA.  They are the future of tomorrow, and hopefully will be the promise of tomorrow.

My husband I are Christians, and have a strong belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ.  My work experience over the years has been varied by positions in the Business World, mostly working for Lawyers, Doctors, and Insurance Companies just to name a few.  Most recently, I graduated with an LLB (Law Degree) from a University in New Zealand.  Yes, I went back to school after being out for a long time, and even though it was very challenging, I demanded from myself the work ethics that would take me through.  At times I felt overwhelmed by the degree of work, exams, and studying that was required.  But I knew that I couldn’t quit school because I could do it!!

Now, here I am writing a blog to you.  I invite you to check out what you see, and if it sounds like something that interests you, or that you think you might be able to explore, then I say GO FOR IT, because at the end of the day, life doesn’t wait for anyone, and,..  he who hesitates is lost!

Thanks for your attention,  and may you have the success and joy that you deserve in your life!

Shelley H.
